Our review of the annotated history reveals the following legislative history (every “c.” below represents a separate legislative bill):
Added: 1973, c. 1202
Amended:
• 1981, c. 743: to add the last sentence in the 3rd parag.
• 1982, c. 1456: to add the last paragraph.
• 1985, c. 1496: to delete “the provisions of” in the first sentence of the 2nd parag; and to amend the last sentence of the 3rd parag to add “or an intermediate care facility/developmentally disabled-nursing,” among other changes.
• 1987, c. 203: to substitute a new 4th paragraph for a new 4th paragraph, to make technical changes.
• 1993, c. 1152: to add subdivision designations (a), (b), (d), (e), and (f), and to add new subdivision (c).
• 1997, c. 220: to add the last sentence of subdivision (c)(1).

Tracing Statutory Language:
