Our review of the annotated history reveals the following legislative history (every “c.” below represents a separate legislative bill):
Added: 1971, c. 1628
Amended:
• 1987, c. 265: in subdivision (a), added “or of any minor child placed with an insured for adoption from and after the moment the child is placed in the physical custody of the insured for adoption”; and in subdivision b, deleted “, from and after the moment of birth,” following “coverage” and substituted “, and each minor child placed for adoption with any insured as required by subdivision (a)” for “any insured”.
• 1994, c. 147: added subdivision (c), relating to health care coverage for children eligible for medicaid services.
• 1996, c. 1062: rewrote subdivision (c). Formerly, subdivision (c) read as follows: “(c) A policy of disability insurance, self-insured care coverage, employee welfare benefit plan, or nonprofit hospital service plan, shall comply with the standards set forth in Section 14124.93 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, in the case of children who are eligible for medicaid services under Subchapter 19 (commencing with Section 1396) of Chapter 7 of Title 42 of the United States Code.”
